On Friday 22 December, Orange 1 for People Foundation ETS handed over the gifts donated by the population, collected on Sunday 17 December during the Christmas markets in Pove del Grappa, to the children admitted to paediatrics and the paediatric emergency room at San Bassiano.
Generosity and solidarity gifts
Christmas is the feast of generosity and solidarity, and it is precisely this spirit that animated the collection of gifts organised by Orange 1 for People Foundation ETS in favour of the children hospitalised in the paediatrics ward of the San Bassiano Hospital.
On Sunday 17 December, in Pove del Grappa, thanks to the generosity of the population, the Foundation’s team collected over 100 gift packets containing soft toys, toy trains, toy cars, dolls and books, which were distributed to the young patients on Friday 22 December during a day-event that saw the Bassano del Grappa Hospital welcome adults and children.
The event programme
The Christmas atmosphere spread first in the atrium of the San Bassiano hospital, involving even those who were just passing through the lobby, then in the paediatrics ward and the hospital’s paediatric emergency department.
The day opened with songs by 100 pupils of the ‘Sound of Christmas’ project of the Jacopo Vittorelli Institute No. 1 in Bassano (hyperlink to https://www.ic1vittorelli.edu.it/). Choir and orchestra, after a few songs, moved to Paediatrics, bringing the spirit of Christmas to the corridors of the ward, in the hope of easing worries and giving children and parents some serenity just a few hours before Christmas.
The gifts collected in Pove del Grappa during the Christmas Markets by Orange 1 for People Foundation ETS were distributed both in the morning (from 9 to 10.30 a.m.) and in the afternoon (from 2.30 to 4 p.m.). This second part of the day saw the players of the Orange1Basket Bassano as protagonists: about ten basketball players, accompanied by coaches and volunteers, transformed themselves into towering Santas to distribute gifts and smiles to the patients of Pediatrics but also to those of the Pediatric Emergency Room of San Bassiano.
A special day made possible thanks to the availability of Ulss 7 Pedemontana, represented during the opening greetings by Dr. Antonio Di Caprio, Health Director of Ulss7 Pedemontana. During the morning and afternoon, both Dr. Davide Meneghesso, Director of the Paediatrics and Neonatal Pathology Unit, and the General Director of Ulss 7 Pedemontana, Dr. Carlo Bramezza, will be present.
